I’ve been experimenting with home air purification and sanitization for a number of years. At my former home I was struggling with allergies and waking up at night in fits of coughing. After purchasing a small floor mount air purifier my conditions improved significantly. (I swear by these small purifiers now!)
More recently, upon moving into a new home and having our first HVAC checkup, I was informed we had mold in the air handler of our system. I had suspected this due to air quality and some visible mold in registers. Faced with an option to either replace plenum and all ductwork, OR install an in-duct purifier, I opted with the purifier. We went with the Reme Halo and at about $500 was a great investment. We keep our fan on 24-7 and our air quality is great.
I’ve been learning about UVC light as a disinfectant for a few months now and am continually intrigued. I’m a learner by nature and this is one of my current focuses. That said, I’m still learning about the science behind UVC and it’s practical implications. I’m no expert, but continually educating myself. I plan to periodically post my newly acquired information here, to share with the public. I have found that there is a lot of confusing content surrounding disinfection and UVC light. This was one reason I wanted to dive deeper to understand the reality.
So, I’m no expert. If I share anything that’s confusing please do ask for clarification. If I share anything that’s incorrect or missing a key piece of information, please educate me.
